Tis the Season to be Busy

Our poor blog hasn't gotten updated in awhile so I just thought I'd write something. We are quickly approaching the holiday season and are already bracing for a very busy season. Every weekend pretty much until Christmas is filled not to mention all the Christmas parties in between. In a way I dread how busy it is because it really is one of my favorite times of the year. I know it's not Thanksgiving yet but we already have the Christmas music playing (the new Casting Crowns Christmas CD is really awesome). The boys of course are really excited about Christmas. They, like the rest of us, like all the presents. I'm praying the Lord will help our family really focus on Him this year. I know that there is nothing we could give God that could ever compare to what He has given us. But since it is the celebration of His birthday, I would like to honor Him as such. If you have any ideas of what your family does to help remember what Christmas is all about, I'd love to hear them. I know we can read the Christmas story and I thought about getting the new Nativity movie that just came out (it is really good too).

Anyway, that's pretty much it from our little part of the world. I'll hopefully post some pictures and stuff soon.

Hey y'all!

Here's an idea... when we were growing up, we always read the Christmas story from the Bible while we put up our Nativity scene. We would divide the figures between the three of us before hand. Then, while Daddy read the story, we would put up our pieces when he came to their part in the story. (He would pause while we placed our piece, so we wouldn't miss any of the story.) We always loved it, and it helped us pay attention and learn about the Birth of Christ. Anyway, just thought I'd share...

Do you remember Nick that we always made a birthday cake for Jesus to celebrate his birthday? We would write his name on it also. Sing the song and blow out the candle.

I love that you're teaching the kids the real meaning of Christmas. Cory and I started new traditions last year, and plan on continuing them as Cian, Teagan and the future kids grow. We really want them to understand the love Christ gave to us all... especially to those who need it this season.

A good resource we found is Advent Conspiracy.

As a family we're focussing on the concept within our own communityl. Some amazing, practical ideas to spreading Christs love. I think it also could be something you could incorporate with your Youth? Worth checking out anyway. They have a couple of promo films that really get a person thinking. =)

We miss you guys!! Hopefully we can get down for a visit one of these times. Love to everyone!!
